AM supports skillscymru event

Gwenda Thomas AM today recommended that local businesses get involved in the skillscymru 2010 event being held in Cardiff in September.

‘I urge local businesses looking to encourage and develop a skilled workforce to participate in the 3 day event being held on 16/17/18 September at the Millennium Stadium,’ said Mrs. Thomas.

skillscymru 2010 is a national initiative for Wales from the Welsh Assembly Government. The central feature is a three day interactive careers and skills event hosted at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, itself a showcase of Welsh vision, ingenuity and talent.

The event will host over 100 organisations from across Wales, the UK and internationally. Over 20,000 young people and adults will visit and benefit from meeting public and private employers, colleges and universities, sector skills councils, training providers and charities and advice bodies.

‘The event will include interactive stands and workshops, with celebrity master classes and skills competitions to entertain and inspire visitors.’

Outreach projects, for those who are unable to travel to the event, will include preparatory information and advance lesson plans for schools, themed social networking projects with discussion and advice forums and interactive video webcasts from the event.

Gwenda Thomas, Constituency AM for Neath advised, ‘This event demonstrates our commitment to increase skill levels throughout Wales to increase national competitiveness and success in business. All details for those wishing to exhibit or students and adults looking for career challenges in construction through to the hospitality and arts sector, can be found at www.skilsscymru.co.uk.’
